Tesla’s plans to expand its Gigafactory in Berlin have hit a roadblock as the Water Management Department of Brandenburg State Office for the Environment rejected the proposal. The expansion, which involves doubling car and energy storage production, faces issues as parts of the production and wastewater recycling plants are located in a water protection area. To proceed, Tesla must seek a partial permit from the lower water authority, which is currently reviewing the documents. The company may need to adjust its plans and the Gigafactory’s expansion could be delayed.
