According to BYD Co, the Chinese automaker sold 3.02 million vehicles in 2023, which is a 61.9% increase from the previous year. The company sold 1.6 million battery EVs and 1.4 million plug-in hybrid EVs. In December 2023, BYD sold 190,754 all-electric vehicles and 340,178 battery and hybrid EVs.
BYD’s sales figures for 2023 are impressive and have put the company on track to surpass Tesla’s production for a second-straight year. However, it is important to note that BYD’s annual sales slightly missed CLSA’s expectations for 3.05 million vehicles.
