根據路透社的報導， 韓國現代汽車 Hyundai 計劃於 2023 年 12 月 31 日至 2024 年 2 月 13 日期間暫停其位於韓國牙山的工廠，以建設電動汽車工廠。
現代汽車目前在這裡生產 Sonata 和 Grandeur 車型，同時也生產 Ioniq 6 電動轎車。
再關閉牙山工廠後，現代汽車將致力於在其位於朝鮮半島另一邊的蔚山的主要製造基地建造一座新的純電動汽車工廠。

目前在蔚山的工廠是由五個獨立工廠組成，主要生產 Hyundai Kona、Santa Fe 和 Tucson 等汽車，以及 旗下豪華品牌 Genesis 的車型 GV80 和 G90 等。
這次建造的純電動車製造廠將成為蔚山工廠的第六家工廠，在 2026 年投產後，將負責組裝全新 Genesis GV90 旗艦電動 SUV。
